Why I Photograph Couples & Engagement Portraits

My favorite thing about photographing couples is witnessing their excitement for what is ahead. The giddiness over each other, over their future plans, and even over the fact that they’re all dressed up with a camera pointed at them when so many of their photos together are selfies.

When I photograph couples, I often think about the "dream" in my dream. experience. remember. philosophy. I can see it. It's tangible. This period of life represents some of the first dreams they imagined together becoming real. Anything feels possible because they have found each other.

Whether they are newly engaged, celebrating an anniversary, or simply taking a break from the family photographs to spend time together, I can often see a level of excitement just about being together before I have even lifted my camera. It's contagious, and I can't wait to start photographing it.
