Looking through the viewfinder, my focus narrows to that singular frame. No concern for the frame before, nor the next. Photography has taught me how to stay in the moment.

Whether taking pictures for fun with your phone, as a hobby with your camera or as a professional, photography is an amazing tool to see the people, places and things that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. My camera has taught me to go where I would not have gone, meet people I may not have met, and better understand the world — and my place in it. It has also taught me to trust my instincts.

I love to share my knowledge and perspective about photography with fellow photographers of all levels and provide fun, informative group workshops for all ages.

 

Individual Services: Advanced & Pro Photographers

    • 1.5 hour Session at your studio: $175

    • 1.5 hour Session at Dana’s Studio: $150

    • Additional time: $75 per hour (can be prorated)

    • 30 minute virtual follow up review: $50

    Rates are based on one student per lesson. On-location includes travel up to 30 miles from Providence, RI. Additional travel fees may be applied when applicable. 

 

Individual Lessons: Beginner, Amateur & Advanced Level Photographers

  • BEYOND BASICS: FILM & DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
    At a minimum, you will learn: 

    • Composition: considering the elements

    • Film and Digital characteristics: achieving maximum image quality

    • ISO & Exposure: technical skills, understanding how technicality affects your creativity and vision

    • Understanding the qualities of light and working in various lighting conditions

    • We will also discuss Philosophy of Photography, your point of view, from the camera’s perspective, your goals, storytelling through editing, and more


    1.5 hour Studio Lesson: $150
    - Includes Beyond Basics lesson plan; Does not include shooting

    2 hour On-Location Lesson: $200
    - Includes Beyond Basics lesson plan + shooting

    Additional Students: $75 per student
    - Up to 4 per group workshop

    Additional Time: $75
    - Hourly; per student; can be prorated

    Customized Additional Materials: $75
    - PART B Beyond Basics Lesson Plan; Suggested assignments based on lesson; See packages below for reference; Per each student

    Virtual Follow Up(s): $50
    - Per each 30 minutes

  • Individual lesson for beginner and amateur levels: $300

    At a minimum, you will learn the following as it relates to nature, landscape and/or environmental portrait photography: 

    • Composition: considering the elements

    • Film and Digital characteristics: achieving maximum image quality

    • ISO & Exposure: technical skills, understanding how technicality affects your creativity and vision

    • Understanding the qualities of light and working in various lighting conditions

    • We will also discuss Philosophy of Photography, your point of view, from the camera’s perspective, your goals, storytelling through editing, and more

    Includes:

    • Beyond Basics Lesson Plan will be provided at your session

    • 2 hour On-Location lesson (includes shooting; for portrait photography bring a friend as your photo subject)

    • Based on your area(s) of interest and progress from your lesson, PART B customized additions to your Beyond Basics Lesson Plan + suggested “assignments” will be created and emailed to you within 3 business days after your session

    • 30 minute virtual follow up review

  • Individual lesson for beginner, amateur and advanced levels: $375

    At a minimum, you will learn the following as it relates to candid, event and environmental portrait photography: 

    • Composition: considering the elements

    • Film and Digital characteristics: achieving maximum image quality

    • ISO & Exposure: technical skills, understanding how technicality affects your creativity and vision

    • Understanding the qualities of light and working in various lighting conditions

    • We will also discuss Philosophy of Photography, your point of view, from the camera’s perspective, your goals, storytelling through editing, and more

    Includes:

    • Beyond Basics Lesson Plan will be provided at your session

    • 30 minute pre-event meeting to review and discuss lesson plan, your goals, etc.

    • Immediately followed by up to a 2 hour On-Location session at your own family gathering or amongst friends

    • Based on your area(s) of interest and progress from your lesson, PART B customized additions to your Beyond Basics Lesson Plan + suggested “assignments” will be created and emailed to you within 3 business days after your session

    • 30 minute virtual follow up review

 

Group Workshops: Beginner & Amateur Level Photographers

  • Up to 3 students: $350

    • Additional students (up to 6): $75 per student

    • Best for Beginner Level

    • Beyond Basics Lesson Plan will be provided at workshop (includes an overview and suggested post-workshop “assignments”)

    • 2 hour workshop at Dana’s studio (does not include formal shooting)

    • 60 minute virtual follow up review


    Rates are total, not per person, based on workshop taking place at Dana’s Studio. Additional $50 may be applied for On-Location workshops up to 30 miles from Providence, RI. Additional travel fees may be applied for longer distances.

  • Up to 4 students: $450

    • Additional students (up to 6): $75 per student

    • Best for beginner and amateur levels

    • Beyond Basics Lesson Plan will be provided at workshop

    • 2.5 hour On-Location lesson shooting

    • Based on your area(s) of interest and progress from your lesson, PART B customized additions to your Beyond Basics Lesson Plan + suggested “assignments” will be created and emailed to you within 3 business days after your session

    • 60 minute virtual follow up review


    Rates are total, not per person. Includes travel up to 30 miles from Providence, RI. Additional travel fees may be applied when applicable. 

 

Group Workshops: Family Gatherings, Parties, Programs

  • Workshops available for events, birthday parties, family gatherings; and social service agencies, rehabilitation centers, correctional programs, or at Dana’s Studio. BYO point-n-shoot, DSLR or smartphone. At a minimum, you will learn the basics of:

    • Photo composition: what you see is what you get

    • Image quality: camera settings and tricks

    • How to use natural and artificial light

    • Storytelling and the editing process


    1.5 hour Workshop (up to 3 students - best for kids): $250

    2 hour Workshop (up to 6 students - best for teens and adults): $300

    Additional students (max 15): $25 each

    Additional Time (hourly, can be pro-rated): $75
